The Social Media Graffiti process
Use communication more humanely.
Communication can reproduce conflict, but it can also transform relationships and institutions. Conflict transformation focuses on changing the patterns, narratives, and structures that allow harm to repeat rather than simply ending one visible dispute (Lederach, 2003).
Humane change also depends on recognizing dignity. bell hooks described love as an ethic involving care, responsibility, respect, knowledge, and commitment. Applied to public communication, this approach asks whether messages help people confront injustice without reducing others to objects of contempt (hooks, 2000).
