Great show with @keithhern: photography, author, and cancer survivor.
During the show, Keith talked about how redundancy helped him reinvent himself and find his true calling in life (photography), about being diagnosed with throat cancer, and how he beat it and documented his illness by writing his book "Bangers and Mash" which is also a photo diary.
To our sadness, during the show, Keith revealed that he has just been diagnosed with cancer for a second time. However, his courage and spirit is as strong as ever and he said that he will not let cancer beat him this time either! He is a truly inspirational human being and it was a pleasure to meet him, as he came over to our house to do the broadcast.
We first became aware of Keith through Penny’s community blog. His challenge was for the community to help create awareness of his book, so our contribution was to invite him onto #theNTShow. It was brilliant to connect and talk to him in person, as well as reaching out to other people on Twitter. The support that came back from people such as Ces and Jay Loftus was over-whelming and we know Keith very much appreciated it.
Vanessa and I were hugely moved and inspired by Keith’s mental strength. If something similar ever happens to me, I only hope that I can face it with equal fortitude and equanimity, not to mention, courage.
